Social Circles in Ego Networks

Introduction

We are Stanford researchers developing algorithms for automatic detection of social circles in online networks. By using this app you will help us collect valuable data for the study and enable us to design the algorithm, which will help you keep your social network organized.

This data will be used for research purposes. All names and tags will be anonymized.

Instructions

Please enter a comma-separated list of 'tags' for each of your friends, describing what they have in common, where you met them, why you are friends with them, etc. Your results will be saved periodically in case you want to return later.

Friends with the same tag should belong to a common conceptual group, much like a 'circle' in Google+, or a 'friendlist' in Facebook, for instance, people you would invite to a party, people you live with, or family members.

You can enter any number of tags for each friend, or leave them untagged if you do not know them. The dropdown lists on the right will be populated with tags you have used so far.
